Custom kitchen remodel in elmhurst

The Problem:

This Elmhurst kitchen remodel was actually quite functional for these empty nesters. Unfortunately, it connected to a formal dining room that had been forgotten about for years. In fact, these clients had remodeled their kitchen about 15 years prior to our arrival, and had asked about opening up the kitchen to the dining room at that time. For unknown reasons, our clients were talked out of this and have since been left longing to open up the kitchen. 

The Solution:

Remove the wall. Opening up the wall that divided the kitchen and dining room is all the client truly ever wanted. In doing so, we needed to make the long space feel organic. By reworking the work triangle, we were able to add length to the perimeter cabinets, which gave us an anchor for double islands; one for prep and storage, and one for seating for their beloved grandchildren. Floor to ceiling cabinetry at the back wall was designed for storage and display, and we even snuck in a hidden beverage refrigerator to draw the guests out of the main work area an into the more open gathering space.
